Resources on Isaiah

isa-overall.jpg

Every jot and tittle of Isaiah is inspired by God. Therefore attention to its message, its major themes, its poetry and the details of the book is very important. There are three major parts to the prophecy of Isaiah: Chapters 1–35 are primarily prophecy referring to the salvation of Jerusalem from the Assyrians; Chapters 36–39 primarily present history related to the salvation of Jerusalem under Hezekiah; and chapters 40–66 present another group of prophetic chapters dealing with the future salvation from Babylonian captivity. It is a very dramatic book, and the prophecies are geared to informing the Lord’s people and to provoking a right response in them. At the heart of the prophecy are the Songs of the Servant, with the poignant chapter 53 depicting the Man of Sorrows who was wounded for our transgressions.
