About the Myrtlefield Trust

Distributing quality Christian teaching throughout the world since 1986

Charity Number: NIC101940

Our Vision

People everywhere listening to God speak his living word.

Our Mission

Myrtlefield publishes resources that help people to hear God for themselves, and so to increase their faith in him; and to do so in as many languages as necessary, so that people are better equipped to study, understand, expoound and proclaim the knowledge of God to the church and the world at large, faithfully and with confidence

Guiding Principles

  • Loyalty to what the triune God has said in the canonical Scriptures.

  • Diligence to understand them in the way he has inspired them to be written.

  • Confidence in the power of God’s word to change human lives and the world they live in.

We promote an approach to Scripture that seeks to understand its meaning by observing the structure, pattern and especially the thought flow of the biblical text, so that we discover the way that each book of the Bible contributes to the message of the whole.

Charitable Objectives

The propagation and dissemination of the truths and doctrines of the Christian Faith in all parts of the world in order to further and encourage Christian teaching and to advance the Christian faith.

Our Authors

David W. Gooding

David W. Gooding (1925–2019) was Professor Emeritus of Old Testament Greek at Queen’s University, Belfast and a Member of the Royal Irish Academy. He taught the Bible internationally and lectured on its relevance to philosophy and world religions.

He published scholarly studies on the Septuagint and Old Testament narratives, as well as expositions of Luke, John 13–17, Acts, Hebrews and the New Testament’s Use of the Old Testament.

His expositions of Scripture are enhanced by what F. F. Bruce once called David Gooding’s ‘rare combination of gifts: spiritual insight, classical learning and literary appreciation’. Yet his insights into the wisdom and love of God owe at least as much to his deep desire to know the Saviour he had trusted in his youth and whose word he has found, throughout his intellectual and personal life, to be true. His work continues to influence the public teaching and private ministries of men and women throughout the world, some well–known and many more unknown.
