The Epistle of Jude

Part 2: Korah A Humanist Cleric

David Gooding

The word of the Creator will not restrict your thinking; it will enlarge your mind with thoughts as big as God himself, as big as eternity.

Synopsis

Exposition of the Letter of Jude dealing with Korah.
Bible readings: Jude 11; Numbers 16.

Are there false teachers in the church today? If so, how can we spot them and what are we to do? David Gooding addresses such questions in a series of four talks on the New Testament book of Jude.

In the first talk, we learn why we must face the problem of false teachers who have infiltrated the church and what their presence among us means. Jude cites three religious people from the Old Testament who were false and whose negative example is instructive today. In the second talk, we meet Korah, a Levite whose speaking against Moses and Aaron parallels the original Jewish and modern secular denials of the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God. The third talk covers Balaam, a pagan prophet for hire who managed to entice Israel to moral and spiritual compromise, a strategy very much at work today. The final talk addresses Cain, who murdered his brother because he belonged to the evil one. Such violence betrays one’s true nature and the great need every person has to repent and believe the gospel.

Recorded at Mullaghfernaghan Gospel Hall, Newtownabbey, Co Antrim, N Ireland in 1989.
