The defence of the gospel is an exceedingly important and practical thing, and goes hand–in–hand as a partner with the positive preaching of the gospel. It’s not given to all of us to be a Peter or a Paul, but when Paul records in his letter to the Philippians that he was set for ‘the defence and confirmation of the gospel’ (1:7), that is a joy given to many of us also, in our different ways.
