Summer 2026 Update

New Podcast Series!

The Unexpected Christ

Just as the Jews in Jesus’ day had wrong ideas about their Messiah, some views about him now can likewise be at odds with the truth. From the belief that he was a mere social reformer to the idea that his teachings drain the colour out of life, David Gooding examines some popularly held views about our Lord and corrects them under the light of the Gospels. Examining what the Gospel accounts have to teach about the character of Christ will challenge us to realign our own views with the original facts about the one who claimed to be the truth.

'The Unexpected Christ’ is a four-part series and will be released weekly, with the first episode coming out on 1st July. They will feature the key segments from each sermon, with enhanced audio.

What People Are Saying

Below are ten comments from people who have used our resources this past year:

“David Gooding and John Lennox were pivotal instruments used by the Lord to lead this prodigal back home. David’s life is still doing the Lord's work after his passing on to glory. Praise God for raising up men like David!”

“A wonderful man of God. I came to know about him just this year through reading his wonderful book, In the School of Christ.”

“Brilliant teacher, especially the sermons on Galatians as he gives the timeline of Paul’s ministry, which is not clear from Acts.”

“I got to know about David Gooding through Prof John Lennox – what an absolute treasure! Thanks to Myrtlefield House for giving us these teachings.”

“Great teaching. I love that brother Gooding covers a lot of ground in a slow, simple, contemplative way and the pauses between sentences are perfect to drink what’s being conveyed into the depths of our souls! Thank you!!! I love his style of teaching!”

“The work that you’ve done to preserve David’s teaching is very valuable. Thank you for posting it. Believers will most certainly be built up in the faith hearing this word.”

“Thanks very very much to David Gooding and Myrtlefield House for your ministry. Ever since I started listening to David Gooding I have experienced tremendous growth in my spiritual work. I have greatly enjoyed Gooding’s sermons more than any other preacher.”

Prayer Points

  • Pray with us as we review our Chinese translations and consider the best way of distributing them, given the current limitations within China.

  • Pray for wisdom and discernment as a partner ministry translates our first book in Farsi. We look forward to Christianity: Opium or Truth? reaching the people of Iran, and then planning how best to proceed.

  • Pray for both of these languages, and for other ongoing projects.

  • We need a lot of wisdom, but we are encouraged by the interest in the books and look forward to seeing how the Lord will use them.

  • Pray that renovation of the new building will go smoothly.

  • Pray that the new books, Ruth and Titus, would be a blessing, and for future books in the ‘Seeing the Big Picture’ series.

  • Give thanks that David Gooding's material on John's Gospel has now been compiled and drafted up to the end of the third journey (John 10), and pray for the rest of this project.
